L.E.D. (Light Emitting Diodes) is a solid state semi-conductor device that converts electrical energy directly into light. Unlike incandescent lamps, which radiate a continuous spectrum, L.E.D. emits an almost
monochromatic light of a particular colour. The colour of the emitted light depends upon the chemical composition of the semi conducting material which is used.
Advantages:
Long lifespan: 50,000 to 1,00,000 hours (6 to 11 years of continuous use) against 1000 hrs for conventional bulb. L.E.D. is the longest-lived light making device ever invented.
